Uniform guide
Remember to get it slowly, the big things make great birthday and Christmas presents.
And you don't have to have ALL the stuff.
You can get a uniform for as cheap as 45.00$ (musket, kepi, canteen) You then can where a checkered shirt and jeans maybe you can find a buckskin or civil war era jacket. Get an old blanket and some other uniform parts if you can find them. If you want a pretty good uniform then just add a jacket, 80.00$ for a musket, jacket, kepi, and a canteen. Find and old blanket and a brown or black leather belt, and a tin plate and cup, some silverware. I can then make you a a haversack and bayonet for free, and you have a pretty good setup. The most important items are marked, red for really important and yellow for somewhat important. You may barrow eqiupmet parts from the quartermaster sargeant unyil you get your own uniform. For the time being the quartermaster is me.

Part 1 Battle gear
This is great for the beginner who wants to fight, and doesn’t want to spend too much either.
Remember that EVERYTHING is listed here, half the stuff you don't even have to have!

1. Shell jacket or sack coat: Grey, Richmond grey, butternut, Cadet grey, Tuscaloosa grey, or buckskin. Wool. 35.00$ Shirts cost only 18$-22$, but most people will have to get a coat, although you can were it under your coat.
2. Trousers: Sky blue, Grey, Richmond grey, Tuscaloosa grey, or butternut. Wool or jean wool. 33.00$-40.00$ Plain Jeans work fine.
3. Kepi or slouch hat: Grey kepi, black and grey slouch hat. Wool kepi, leather slouch hat. 10.00$-45.00$
4. Belt: Brown or black, leather. 12.00$ You don't have to have this.
60% need union ‘Bulls-eye’ canteens, 25% need confederate ones, and 15% tin drum canteens.
6. Haversack: White Canvas or cotton, or black tarred. 11.00$-17.00$. For 2.00$ I can make you one.
Only about 30% of the troops need a black one.
7. Cartridge box: Black, Leather. A whopping 40.00$. These are real thick leather, and are practically an unbend able box, and will last you a long time. If you don’t mind having them imported I can get them for 15.00$. 40% need Black ones, 20% need Brown ones, 10, Natural ones, and 30% don’t need any. If you have a carbine then you need a carbine box instead.
9. Cap Box: This isn’t really an important item, 30% need plain black ones, 20% need ‘US’ marked ones, black, and the rest don’t need any. 13.00$
10. Bayonet: I have to make these; you can only get real ones anywhere else. (And I am sure of that.) 2.00$
11. Musket: Civil war Kentuckian, full size. Wood and metal. A toy of course, shoots caps. 20.00$-40.00$ 20% can have carbines, and 10% can have shotguns. I make cap shooting carbines for 20.00$, not cap shooting for 8.00$.
12. About one out of every 5 can have a pistol, either a revolver or one shot.

Part 2, Campaigner
These are important for making camp and if we do any overnight bivouacking. (sleeping outdoors in a camp.) A blanket, tin plate, and a tin plate are required for bivouacking.
1. Blanket: Grey, blue, checked, striped. Thick wool or fleece 10.00$ to 16.00$.
2. Knapsack Opt: Canvas or Tarred canvas. 50.00$ to 60.00$ You can just wear your blanket over your shoulder.
4. Plate: A good nice tin or steel one, not marked CS. 12.00$
5. Cup: A tin or steel one that won’t rust. 10.00$-15.00$
6. Candles: these need to be the stick kind, regular or beeswax. Can be purchased at many stores or you can buy authentic one for 0.50$ regular or 2.50$ for beeswax. Burns for eight hours.
7. Knife: These are needed only by the older members, needs to be a hunting style one.
8. Flint and steel or matches: As said, you can use your knife for the steel; get a good flint, not one of the ones they sell at Wal-Mart.
9. Other things include cards, confederate dollars, a comb, or other nick-knacks.
As this is a boys unit, I don’t want to see or even hear of tobacco or liquor in any form.
